STEM DAY




What is STEM Lab Day?

STEM Lab Day is an opportunity for students ages 10-15 to engage in hands-on STEM labs and guided instruction focused on STEM. Students will also receive an introduction to computer coding.

When is STEM Lab Day?

STEM Lab Day will take place the third Thursday of each month beginning September 17. Each session will run from 10:00am to 3:00pm.

Roam Dunwoody located at 1155 Mt. Vernon Highway, Atlanta, GA 30338.

Is there a registration fee for STEM Lab Day?

STEM Lab Day is sponsored by Great Teachers’ Academy and Edevate and is free for participants.

What’s the duration of STEM Lab Day?

Each session is five hours. The program will continue through the current school year.

What materials or supplies do students need for STEM Lab Day?

Participants will need their own computer.

Who is the instructor?

Leanne Lee will be the instructor/facilitator of learning. She has a Chemistry Degree from Georgia Tech and has completed the Computer Coding course through Udacity’s Nanodegree program. Previously, she spent approximately 12 years as a science teacher and department chair at a Blue Ribbon private school in Atlanta.

What will students do during STEM Lab Day?

STEM Lab Day will consist of facilitated instruction in computer programming/coding and integrated STEM project work that can be completed on-site or at home. Students may also have access to supplemental materials to enhance learning and understanding.

Is transportation provided?

This is a drop-off program and transportation is not provided.

Are snacks provided?

Snacks are not provided. Participants should bring their own snacks or they can purchase snacks at Roam.

How do I register?

Register by clicking HERE . Please note: registration requires a minimum three month initial commitment, meaning parents/students accepted into the program at a minimum must attend each session through November. The program will continue beyond November and registered/enrolled students may continue beyond the three month commitment.

What if I need to withdraw from the program?

If parents/students wish to withdraw from the program, please submit 14-day written notice. Advance notice makes it possible to fill the open spot.
